This strand has a waxy luster, a symmetrical shape, and a consistent vibrant hue resembling rich saturations of Robin's Egg Blue. Armenian turquoise was discovered in 1974 at the Tekhut porphyry coppermolybdenum deposit, located  on the western slope of the Panskar Range.
