Pietersite Elongated Faceted Pears have a pearly luster showing chatoyancy, the gems range in color from a blue shiller to tiger eye, ore, brown, black, blue, beige-swirl patterning. The gems have good symmetry with good faceting and polish, show an opaque quality with some stones showing a brown iron ore, and this rare gem is a fine example of this one source gem from South Africa.
